How do I create a case?
In this article you will learn how to create a case on a domain and how to choose the basic settings for the case.
For unlicensed image uses on a domain that you choose to pursue you create a case. A case may contain information about the images that are used without a license, information about the domain, a calculation of applicable license fees and evidence collected about the image uses. A case may be passed to a collection partner or to Fair Licensing for further processing.
In order to create a case follow these steps:
- In the domain view navigate to the domain with the unwanted usage(s)
- Click on the 'Create Case with new Findings' button
- In the following dialogue select the findings that should be included in the case. Select the findings individually or click on the 'Select All' button in the upper right corner to select all findings
- Click 'next'
- In the following dialogue choose set up how the case should be processed:
- Select how the case will be pursued by selecting a collection partner (i.e., a law firm or money collection agency) or Fair Licensing by selecting the desired path in the 'Route to...' drop down menu.
- If no preservation of evidence by the PIXRAY case management team is needed, enable the 'Skip Documentation' switch.
- If you wish to review the case after the preservation of evidence by the PIXRAY case management team before it is routed to the selected collection partner or to Fair Licensing, turn on the 'Review after Documentation' switch.
- Click 'Finish'
It is rarely advisable to use the 'Skip Documentation' option. The only situation in which this is useful is when you want to preserve the case's evidence yourself and pass it to the collection partner outside the PIXRAY system.
You may choose to defer the steps 5 and following by clicking the 'Save as Draft' button. The case will occour in you cases list in the 'draft' status and can be continued at a later point in time.
