How do I set up inbound emailing with gmail?

If you're sending out emails from within the Fair Licensing portal via a gmail account, follow these steps in order to see the responses in the portal, too.

Responses to the emails that were sent out need to be redirected from your gmail account to the Fair Licensing mail server.

In the Fair Licensing Portal click Admin->Account->Email Setup and scroll down to "Inbound Emails". There you find your unique forwarding email address. The forwarding email address ends on @mailfwd.fairlicensing.com.

Steps to redirect incoming emails:

  1. Log in to the gmail account that you configured in your Fair Licensing email setup.
  2. In the top right corner, click on the settings icon (gear)
  3. click the 'See all settings' button
  4. click on the 'Forwarding and POP/IMAP' tab
  5. click on the 'Add a forwarding address' button in the forwarding section
  6. enter the above mentioned forwarding email address (ending on @mailfwd.fairlicensing.com) and click 'Next'
  7. click on 'Proceed' in the pop up window
  8. confirm that an email with a confirmation code was sent to the email address by clicking 'OK'
  9. in another browser tab or window log in to the Fair Licensing portal
  10. click on the 'Emails' menu point in the navigation bar
  11. you should have received an email from google with a confirmation code
  12. copy the confirmation code and paste it in the field next to the 'verify' button in the forwarding section
  13. click on 'Verify'
  14. activate the 'Forward a copy of incoming mail to <forwarding email address>' radio button
  15. select, what you want to do with the copy of the incoming mail remaining in the gmail account. Don't select the delete option though to be on the safe side in case something goes wrong.
  16. click on the 'Save changes' button at the bottom of the page
  17. In the Fair Licensing Portal go to Admin->Email Setup and scroll down to the Inbound Email section. Click the 'Activate' button in that section to test your setup. If your setup is working the 'Status' field will switch to 'Active'.
